Among the gigantic old palm trees that are a characteristic feature of Widikum sub division, lies the small town of Widikum with a population of some ten thousand inhabitants. From almost every corner of the town’s business center, one can see the Catholic Church standing some 100 meters behind its primary school, St. Mathias Catholic School.
The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Bamenda is the Metropolitan See of the Archdiocese of the Ecclesiastical Province of Bamenda. Created in 1982 by Pope John Paul II, the archdiocese has thirty-five parishes and six deaneries. The oldest parish of the archdiocese is St Anthony’s Parish in Njinikom.
